Donald, D for short, learned his barbeque secrets from his mom and dad. He continued to add all the family secrets he learned over the years from aunt and uncles and took the best from each and created his own, unique style of barbeque. Beginning at his uncle’s butcher shop at 36th and Nicollet in Minneapolis, MN, about 14 years ago, Donald (“D”) was introduced to the world of food and it was a match made in heaven. Donald perfected Smoke-in-D’s BBQ. It’s his process. It’s the rub. It’s the passion. All meats are hand cut, hand cleaned and hand rubbed and then smoked to perfection for no less than 4 to 5 hours. Home made recipes served with mild and spicy sauces created over many years. In 1997, Jo Mama’s Kitchen was opened in St. Paul located inside the Minnehaha Lanes Bowling Alley at 955 Seminary Road featuring soul food cuisine for your Sunday dinner any day.
